Nursery Newsletter - October 2014

Newsletter - October 2014
It’s hard to believe that we reached the end of our first term already – where have the weeks gone?
Children are now settled and getting fully involved in nursery life – exploring the environment and all it has to offer, learning our rules and routines, making new friends and of course having lots of fun.  Our Goldilocks and the 3 bears theme sparked lots of interest with children learning in all areas of the curriculum.
MacMillan Coffee Morning/afternoon
We would like to thank you all for your support with our MacMillan Coffee Morning – the donations of money and of baking were very generous and we were delighted to be able to give a sum of £282.28 to the MacMillan charity.
Outdoor Area
We have been very fortunate to have been given some plants from our local B&Q  who have been very supportive in the development of our outdoor area.  Mrs Birmingham has also managed to secure a playhouse at a ‘special price’ which we plan to put in the woods and use as a bird hide.  We would be very grateful if anyone would be able to offer their help and come and paint it for us.
Wanted
If anyone has any of the following  they could donate we would also appreciate them:
Craft materials – such as old buttons and bows/ribbons
Childrens’ socks and leggings - ages 4/5years only please
Shoes
As the cold weather approaches and it is wetter and muddier outdoors please could you ensure that your child has wellies and that they are wearing shoes which they can change themselves with a little help. Velcro fastenings are ideal for this.  The large volume of children with laces and baseball boots has meant that children are needing a lot of adult help with this which is ultimately frustrating for children when they have to wait for help rather than getting on with their play.
We thank you for your continued support.
Dates for your diary:
Halloween Fun Day – 31st October 2014 – fancy dress – not too scary please!!!
