Reading Schools Award

All of our classes prioritise the values of regularly reading and we are delighted to have been recognised as a Reading School.  Each class reads for a period of time on a Friday afternoon, including the class teacher, to showcase how enjoyable and relaxing reading can be.  Our senior pupils often help promote reading by supporting younger readers as 'Reading Warriors' and in every class, you will find children with lanyards which prompt natural conversations to spark interest in reading!  Well done to Mr Clark and Miss Storrier for their hard work.  Get reading!

Rights Respecting Schools Award

We are delighted to announce that Craigiebarns Primary School has secured the unicef Silver Rights Respecting School award.  Our dedicated pupils, alongside Mrs Biggans have worked collaboratively, ensuring the rights are not only embedded in our school culture, but all learners are aware of their rights.  We undertook a virtual visit, where teaching staff, parents and pupils spoke with visitors to showcase how our learning informs and utilises rights.  Next up, Gold!

Craigiebarns Girls Cup Winners

On Wednesday 12th June, the Girls Football Team featured in an exciting and nail-biting cup final against Longhaugh, where they went on to lift the trophy after an emphatic 7-2 win.   After many of the girls featured in last year's final defeat, they made sure to take their chances this year and went into the break 5-1 up.  Some excellent goalkeeping, strong defending and outstanding attacking play allowed the girls to get their hands on the trophy; a first in the history of the school.

Silver School Sport Award

This week, Craigiebarns have successfully secured the Silver School Sport Award from SportScotland.  This is an excellent achievement which reflects the partnerships with local community clubs, as well as our links with Active Schools and Craigie High School in providing sporting opportunities for our pupils.  A big congratulations to the children, as well as Health and Wellbeing Leader Mr Shields, who will now use this milestone to prepare working towards securing the Gold Award in the future.
